How can astronauts grow a garden in the space capsule? Inspired by the Surviving Space: Astronauts and Asteroids special exhibition\, this session explores the food astronauts take with them to space. From dehydrated snacks to cooked meals to raw ingredients\, find out what kinds of food fuels space explorers at Homeschool Day! \nRocket Fuel • 10:30 a.m.\, 12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. \nHow do rockets make it to space? Inspired by the Surviving Space: Astronauts and Asteroids special exhibition\, this hands-on workshop explores the chemistry and physics of rockets. DESCRIPTION:Add to your Witte experience with hands-on explorations of Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Art and Math at STEAM Sunday.  \nHow do chemical reactions launch rockets?  \nInspired by the special exhibition Surviving Space\, this hands-on workshop explores the chemistry and physics of rocketry. You’ll experiment to identify the ideal chemical balance to launch a film canister rocket. \nCost: $8 (non-member) / $6 (member) + Museum Admission \nImportant Information: \n\nAdvanced registration required. Participation in this event requires Witte Museum general admission (not included)\, plus STEAM Sunday ticket for each participant.\nPurchase includes all supplies needed for interactive workshop and collectible button.\nNon-participating family members are welcome (space permitting) and do not need to purchase a ticket.\nRecommended for all ages over 5.\nProgram runs approximately 45-60 minutes.\nSTEAM Sunday ticket sales close one hour before the program begins.
