Join us for a day of self-guided discovery and interactive learning. \nAdmission is $10 per participant and includes 9 a.m. early entry\, access to the Special Exhibition Unseen Oceans\, and exclusive educator-led demonstrations. We encourage you to stay after your program and enjoy a picnic lunch in one of our outdoor picnic areas. \nRecommended for grades K-6th \n10 a.m. \nStory time – John R. and Greli N. Less Charitable Trust Science and Nature Courtyard\nJoin us and dive into an engaging read along followed by a take home craft. \nHunting the Pecos – Adventure Walk\nHave you ever wondered what was it like to hunt like thousands of years ago? Join our Witte educators and discover how the People of the Pecos used the natural resources around them to hunt. \n10:30 a.m. \nFangtastic! – SWBC Live Lab\nThink you could tell the difference between a venomous and a poisonous snake? In this demonstration\, compare 3-D printed snake fangs to discover how snakes around the world catch their prey. Learn about the functions of fangs and the power of poison! \nChuckbox Cuisine – Will Smith Amphitheater\nFind out who the “Bean Wrangler” is and what he might carry in his chuckbox on long trail drives across North America. Would you have what it takes to do this important job? \n11 a.m. \nStorytime – John R. and Greli N. Less Charitable Trust Science and Nature Courtyard \nJoin us and dive into an engaging read along followed by a take home craft. \nNature’s Inspiration – East Foundation Land Stewardship Lab\nDo you know all the ways scientists are inspired by nature? Discover how animals like spiders and birds\, inspire new technologies and designs that help solve real world problems. \n 11:30 a.m.\n \nAnimal Encounter – Memorial Auditorium \nDid you know the museum is home to several Texas native animals? Find out more about our backyard neighbors during a demonstration of Animal Encounters. Learn about how these animals help support healthy habitats\, and what we can do to help them in return.
