Did you know that the Witte has poop on exhibit? Use this as a guide to examine the importance of scat in different areas of the museum. 

  1. Head to the Zachry Family Dinosaur Lab to examine trace fossils to find prehistoric poop. What is fossilized scat called?
  2. Make your way to the McLean Family Texas Wild Gallery to find scat from at least two different animals. Which ones did you see?
  3.  In the SWBC Live Lab, locate scat under glass. Which animals left these specimens behind? Get it? Behind!
  4. Don’t miss your chance to examine scat under a microscope in the Lifeways Lab. What can this poop tell us about who left it?
  5. While exploring the Kittie West Nelson Ferguson People of the Pecos Gallery, keep your eyes peeled for scat. Where did you find it?
  6. Find the scat of the largest animal in the Robert J. and Helen C. Kleberg South Texas Heritage Center. How is this poop different from some of the others you have seen?
  7. Learn all about “The Scoop on Poop” in the H-E-B Body Adventure. Which type of poop means you are eating a balance of solid foods and liquids?
