What are forces, and how do they affect airplanes? Successful flight requires a delicate balance of many different pushes and pulls. This hands-on workshop examines the different forces that act on an airplane. You’ll learn how to balance those forces as you design, create, test, and improve paper airplanes. How far will you soar?

June 5, 2022 – How do different snakes inject venom into their prey? Inspired by the exhibition The Power of Poison, this hands-on workshop explores the unique features that enable venom delivery. July 10, 2022 – What is an herbarium, and how is it used? Inspired by the exhibition The Power of Poison and featuring selections from the Witte’s own herbarium, this hands-on workshop examines the helpful and harmful properties of different plants. You’ll create your own pressed plant art, as well as a press you can use for future art! What will you create?

STEAM Sunday: Dose Detection

August 7, 2022 – It’s the dose that makes the poison – but how do we know what the dose is? Inspired by the exhibition The Power of Poison, this hands-on workshop features a chemistry technique called titration that you’ll use detect the amount of vitamin C in different liquids. What will you discover?
