“San Antonio’s Space Endeavors—President Kennedy’s Last Public Speech,” an exhibit marking 60 years since President John F. Kennedy visited San Antonio to dedicate the Aerospace Medical Health Center at Brooks Air Force Base and speak to the key role of San Antonio in medical space research, is on display November 11 – 28, 2024 at the Witte Museum .

Head to the Witte for the 2023 eclipse in San Antonio to get free eclipse glasses and safely view the eclipse, learn more about eclipses in the newly unveiled Eclipse Encounters exhibit and participate in eclipse- and space-related activities across the museum campus all day long, including following the eclipse’s “last contact.” All activities and exhibits are free for Witte Members or included with Museum Admission

The highest award presented by the San Antonio Visitor Alliance recognizes individuals, organizations or families from San Antonio for their significant contributions to travel and tourism.

Representatives from the Witte Museum recently requested approval from the NAGPRA Review Committee to reinter Aboriginal individuals in their ancestral lands in West Texas. Following the presentation, the Review Committee unanimously agreed with the Witte Museum’s request, and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland subsequently concurred with the Review Committee’s recommendation and gave the Witte permission to proceed with the reinterment.

Experts have searched for the location of the Battle of Medina for decades, and now new evidence of a significant battle location has been uncovered and is on display in an exhibit at the Witte Museum.

50-year retrospective exhibition of Al Rendón’s Photography, opening September 2 at the Witte, coincides with the release of a new commemorative book on Rendón’s 50-year career, published by the Witte Museum and distributed by Trinity University Press.

People of all ages can participate in interactive dinosaur activities across the Witte Museum campus. Day coincides with ‘Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family’ and ‘Antarctic Dinosaurs’ special exhibitions.
