Witte Museum Hosts Annular Eclipse Viewing and “Last Contact” Party

Head to the Witte for the 2023 eclipse in San Antonio to get free eclipse glasses and safely view the eclipse, learn more about eclipses in the newly unveiled Eclipse Encounters exhibit and participate in eclipse- and space-related activities across the museum campus all day long, including following the eclipse’s “last contact.” All activities and exhibits are free for Witte Members or included with Museum Admission

Witte Museum receives Department of Interior approval to proceed with the reinterment of Aboriginal individuals

Representatives from the Witte Museum recently requested approval from the NAGPRA Review Committee to reinter Aboriginal individuals in their ancestral lands in West Texas. Following the presentation, the Review Committee unanimously agreed with the Witte Museum’s request, and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland subsequently concurred with the Review Committee’s recommendation and gave the Witte permission to proceed with the reinterment.
